Parents and carers have until Saturday (31 October) to apply for Year 7 secondary school places in Leicestershire for September 2027.
Parents and carers in Leicestershire are being reminded to submit their applications for secondary school places by this Saturday (31 October).
Leicestershire County Council says applications for children starting Year 7 in autumn 2027 must be made before the deadline to ensure they are processed alongside other on-time applications.
Councillor Charles Pugsley, the council’s cabinet member for children and families, has stressed that children are not automatically allocated a place at any school.
Families can name up to five preferred schools and are strongly advised to include their catchment area school among their choices.
Information about schools, advice on applying and a downloadable digital checklist are available through the county council’s school admissions webpage, where applications can also be submitted through the parent portal.
The deadline for primary school applications, including children starting school for the first time and those transferring from infant to junior school, is 15 January 2027.
School allocations will be announced on national offer days, with secondary school places confirmed on 2 March 2027 and primary school places on 16 April 2027.
Parents can find further information and apply online via Leicestershire County Council’s school admissions webpage.
