Traders in Loughborough are being told to contact the police immediately if they are handed a fake £20 note.
The warning comes from bosses at the Business Improvement District, Love Loughborough, which represents traders in the town centre.
They say have issued a photograph of one of the counterfeit £20 notes in circulation in the town which all have the same serial number - GH98 195005
The advice is to call the police if you receive one and do not use it.
