John Wardle has been named as the refuge collector who was injured.
A pub in Earl Shilton has set up a funding page to raise money to help his family with the ongoing costs of going to the hospital.
He is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on Station Road in Earl Shilton on Thursday 15th October.
Police said: "We were called at 9.03 am yesterday (Thursday 15 October) by East Midlands Ambulance Service reporting their attendance at a road traffic collision on Station Road in Earl Shilton involving a van and a pedestrian.The pedestrian was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment. He remains in hospital where his condition is described as serious. The van driver was not injured.
Station Road was closed to allow for an investigation of the scene – it reopened at 1.30pm. Enquiries have been carried out into the circumstances surrounding the incident and no criminal offences have been identified."
