With England’s World Cup campaign now in full swing the Hinckley & Bosworth Community Safety Partnership are launching a campaign to remind people of the impact of anti-social behaviour and violence.

The 'Do you know the score?' campaign encourages people to take responsibility for their own actions and drink responsibly during the World Cup. It aims to educate and divert people away from crime and disorder, but also has a clear message that when necessary, enforcement powers will be used to keep the community safe.

Councillor Mike Hall, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership and Leader of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council said:

I want people to enjoy the World Cup and, like many, I hope that we witness a brilliant England performance. At the same time it is important for people to drink responsibly, keep themselves and their families safe and be respectful of others.

This campaign will help to promote good behaviour, and to ensure that members of the community know where to access support if they should need it.

As part of the campaign for this year’s World Cup, posters are appearing in pubs, bars and in community facilities to encourage responsible drinking and during the campaign representatives from the partnership will be working in schools to educate young people about the consequences of alcohol misuse, drugs and anti-social behaviour.

Posters and social media will also be used to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to ensure individuals know how to access support.

The council has a dedicated adult domestic abuse outreach service which offers free, confidential advice, advocacy, emotional and practical support in safe venues. To self-refer or refer a friend or relative contact the Borough Council’s Domestic Abuse Outreach Service on 07966 202181 or the Community Safety Team on 01455 238141.
