An investigation is underway over concerns about an increased number of Covid-19 patients in hospital in Nuneaton.
The Managing Director at Nuneaton's George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust says services remain open and operational to patients while managing Covid-19 cases.
A joint investigation between the Hospital Trust, Warwickshire County Council, Public Health England and regional NHS partners is underway into a 'significant and consistent' number of Covid-19 cases at the hospital.
David Eltringham, Managing Director at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, said: “The Trust, with the support of local and regional NHS partners, Warwickshire County Council and Public Health England is managing an increased number of COVID-19 cases in the hospital, and although understandably some people have been concerned about attending hospital during the pandemic, our staff have worked hard to minimise the spread of infection within the hospital. Our message is that our services remain open and operational, so patients should continue to attend their appointments unless specifically advised by the Trust not to.
“We are in contact with all individuals and their families who have tested positive for COVID-19, and we continue to take strict action to help prevent further spread of infection within the hospital.”
