A fire engine is at the supermarket.

Shoppers have been evacuated from Morrisons in Hinckley this morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 10:30 this morning (14 October).

Morrisons had already evacuated all staff and employees from the premises on their arrival.

A member of staff reported that a fire had occurred in the supermarket's warehouse; however, no signs of fire were found when fire crews inspected the area.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On inspection, there was no sign of fire, but there was smoke in the building, believed to be the result of overheated electrical systems. Our crews are currently remaining on-site to monitor, but we understand the shop will reopen to customers shortly."

A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We can confirm the fire brigade were called and the Hinckley store was evacuated whilst a smoking refrigeration pack was inspected. There are no injuries and the store has reopened."
