Nuneaton man charged with robbery offences

A Nuneaton man has been charged with robbery offences following several incidents in Nuneaton yesterday (Tuesday 16 January) afternoon.

The first alleged offence occurred at a shop on Church Road at around 2pm. It was reported that a man wearing a mask threatened a woman with a knife and scissors and demanded money. The man left empty handed.

The second alleged offence occurred at a shop on Arbury Road at around 2.15pm. It was reported that a man wearing a mask and carrying a knife threatened staff and demanded money. He left empty handed.

The third incident occurred at a shop on Croft Road at around 2.55pm. It was reported that a man with his face covered stole a woman's handbag.

Colin Young, aged 35, of Bucks Hill, Nuneaton was arrested shortly after on Northumberland Road. He was charged with three counts of attempted robbery, one count of robbery, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Young is due to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 17 January).
