Work has started to plant over 5000 trees at Bradgate Park.
The planting of woodland trees, parkland trees and hedgerow plants is taking place on the field next to Swithland Wood.
The National Forest has provided funding for the project.
Bradgate Park Trust posted the update on social media and said: "This brand new woodland will extend existing habitats and create new ones, benefitting wildlife such as barn owls, adders, and restarts."
