Works will start in May to restrict parking in Market Bosworth’s town centre.
The scheme also includes new pedestrian crossings, a clockwise one-way road system, junction improvements, widened footways and cycle parking.
The Market Bosworth Parish Council and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council works will take 10 weeks, with work in the historic town carried out on their behalf by Leicestershire County Council.
The councils say businesses and residents will benefit from lower speed limits, improved road safety and better traffic flow.
Work is due to start on 12th May 2025.
Upgrades will include:
-
Improved priority system at the junction of Rectory Lane and Sutton Lane
-
Two-hour restricted parking bays in Market Place
-
New one-way clockwise gyratory system on Market Place and Main Street
-
New 20mph speed limit within the town centre and approach roads
-
Road resurfacing
A letter to residents says that the work will be carried out in phases.
Phase 1: Changes to road signs and markings – 12 May to 1 June 2025
Phase 2: Traffic switch-over (replicating the new one-way system) and main works – 1 June to late July 2025
Phase 3: Resurfacing work – late July 2025 Please note that these dates are subject to change, depending on progress and site constraints. Access to premises will be maintained as much as possible. However, there may be periods of temporary restrictions, which will be carefully managed.
