Two men who filmed themselves abusing Jewish man on TikTok admit antisemitic hate crime

Two men have admitted an antisemitic hate crime after filming themselves abusing a Jewish man for social media content.

Adam Bedoui, 20, and Abdelkader Bousloub, 21, who are both from Hillingdon, in northwest London, pleaded guilty to a religiously aggravated public order offence at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

The pair travelled to Hackney in east London, an area with a significant Jewish population, on Thursday.

They approached a Jewish man on Clapton Common in Stamford Hill, verbally abused him and filmed the encounter for TikTok.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a hate crime involving a group of men allegedly harassing members of the Jewish community at around 9pm, arresting five men.

Bedoui and Bousloub were quickly held, despite trying to leave the scene and were charged earlier on Saturday.

The other three suspects - two 20-year-olds and a 21-year-old man - have been released on bail pending further investigation.

Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter, who leads policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets for the Met Police, called it a "deliberate and targeted antisemitic attack, aggravated by the pair's intention to post the incident on social media to spread hatred.

Detective Superintendent Richter said it is "completely unacceptable and has no place in London".

He said the speed with which the force held, arrested and charged the suspects "should send a clear message - we will act decisively against anyone who commits hate crime".

He added: "We know the harm incidents like this cause to communities and we will continue to take all reports with the utmost seriousness."

Earlier this week, the Met announced a new dedicated Community Protection Team to tackle antisemitic hate crimes.

In the past four weeks alone, the force has arrested around 50 people for antisemitic hate crimes, with 10 individuals charged.

Bedoui and Bousloub will be sentenced next month.
