Amateur photographers have been recognised for capturing Charnwood’s parks, wildlife and countryside, with more than 100 entries submitted to this year’s Love the Outdoors in Charnwood competition.
Photographers of all ages have been celebrated in Charnwood Borough Council’s annual Love the Outdoors in Charnwood photo competition.
More than 100 entries were submitted over the summer, showcasing the borough’s parks, woodlands, nature reserves and wildlife.
The winners and runners-up were announced at a presentation at Loughborough Town Hall on Monday 12 October.
There were three categories, with Doreen Watson winning the Open Category for her photograph of the sunrise over Cossington Lock.
Jamie Willis took first prize in the Wonderful Wildlife category with a picture of a fox among bluebells in Burleigh Wood.
The Young Photographer category, for residents aged 16 and under, was won by six-year-old Matteo Pouzet, whose photograph featured Carillon Tower in Queen’s Park.
The competition was supported by idverde, the council’s open spaces management partner, which provided £50 Love2Shop vouchers for category winners and £25 vouchers for runners-up.
The council says the competition aims to celebrate local photography while encouraging residents to explore and appreciate Charnwood’s natural environment.
