Stewart Newbold abused three children from 1997 to 2000.

On 24 June, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, Stuart Newbold was found guilty of four counts of inciting a boy under 14 years of age to commit an act of gross indecency, three counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14 years and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 years.

The three victims – two men and a woman – were children when the offences were committed between 1997 and 2000, but reported matters to police in 2018.

In addition to the custodial sentence, 38-year-old Newbold – of Mary Close in Ibstock – was placed on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO)

Detective Constable Andy Day, from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit non-recent team, was the officer in the case. He said: “I hope the fact that Newbold is now serving a custodial sentence will provide a degree of closure to the three victims and allow them to move on their lives.

“I hope today’s sentencing will also encourage anyone who has been a victim of child sexual abuse to come forward and report matters to police. It is never too late to speak out.”
