Despite numerous warnings, another driver has had to be rescued at the flooded spot in Thurlaston.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Watery Gate on 13th January to reports of a vehicle submerged into four feet of water.

When crews arrived the driver was still inside the vehicle and had to be rescued and the vehicle was left in the ford.

Leicestershire County Highways have closed the road to prevent further incidents and plans are underway to erect gates at the site to stop drivers who ignore the closure signs.

Between 2014 - 2018 Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has been called out to Watery Gate more than 10 times and the county council’s highways department attended 19 times.

The gates are reported to cost around £65,000.
