Charnwood Borough Council and Fosse 107 are teaming up to start Christmas in Loughborough this year but we are looking to find someone to help us switch on the lights in the town centre.

Do you know a deserving youngster who would love to get Christmas going in Loughborough and switch-on the town’s lights in front of thousands of people?

If you do, then put them forward for Charnwood Borough Council’s Light up Loughborough competition.

The switch-on will take place on Sunday 26th November and the Council and Love Loughborough are trying to find a deserving youngster to flick the big switch.

The competition is open to children aged 11 or under who have done something extraordinary – whether that’s helping in the community, worked extra hard at school or helped to look after a relative. They must also be a Charnwood resident.

The winner will also receive a family ticket to this year’s pantomime, Peter Pan at Loughborough Town Hall and a £50 Love Loughborough voucher.

Fosse 107 will be hosting this year’s Christmas lights switch on with thanks to headline sponsor Loughborough Kia.

Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “I’m pleased to see that the Light up Loughborough competition is making a return this year, giving a youngster in the borough the chance to make some amazing festive memories.

“I look forward to reading the stories of children from across the borough and I am excited to meet the winner at the Christmas lights switch-on.”

Last year, inspirational twins Katie and Emelia Cairns from Loughborough switched on the Christmas lights in the town centre.

To enter the competition, all you need to do is fill in the online form: www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LightUpLboro

All entrants must be aged 11 and under and live in Charnwood. They will need to be entered by a parent or guardian. The closing date for entries is Monday, October 30.

Entries will be considered by a judging panel made up of representatives from the Council, Fosse 107 and Love Loughborough.
