A husband and wife from Hinckley are celebrating an extraordinary milestone after hosting a weekly pub quiz for 30 years — a feat believed to be a UK record.
Val and Geoff King have run their Thursday night quiz at The Longshoot Hotel in Nuneaton since 1996, making it the longest continuous pub quiz residency by the same duo at a single venue anywhere in the country.
The couple will mark the anniversary on Thursday 9th April 2026 with a special celebratory quiz night.
What began as a modest weekly gathering has grown into one of the area’s most popular pub events, now regularly attracting up to 25 teams each week. Organisers say the quiz’s enduring appeal lies in its accessibility, with rounds designed to suit a wide range of ages and knowledge levels.
The Kings have long championed a simple ethos: “It’s just a bit of fun in the pub.”
The anniversary event will include special games and cash prizes, with organisers promising a “big night” for participants.
