"There will never be any award to sum up how she helped me and hope she realises the difference she made to my family just by being her.”
A nurse from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has received the international DAISY Award for the outstanding care they have provided for patients.
Jeanette Preston, a Public Health Nurse based at Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital, was nominated for the award by a patient for the care they have delivered. Jeanette is the lead practice teacher for health visiting in the county.
Her nomination reads: “I had some serious difficulties in my personal life, and I really believe in part without her unwavering support, my life would look very different now and I wouldn’t have found my own voice or courage at a time where I felt powerless. Life for me is very different now, me and my children have a happy and safe life, and I owe Jeanette and her kindness, support and empowerment an immense debt of gratitude for this.
“There will never be any award to sum up how she helped me and hope she realises the difference she made to my family just by being her.”
The DAISY Awards are an international recognition programme that honours and celebrates the exceptional care that many nurses and midwives provide every day.
Jeanette shared: “I feel so honoured to receive the DAISY award. It means so much because the nomination came from a patient who, even though they were experiencing huge difficulties in their life, still found the time to make the nomination.
“Every health visitor that I work with goes over and above on a daily basis for the families we care for. It is so rewarding to know that what we do really can make a significant difference to people’s lives.”
