Work to take place in October and November
A £2 million scheme to reduce congestion, provide improved transport links and manage the extra travel demand created by the new country park development at Nailstone, begins next week.
We are leading on the delivery of the scheme on behalf of the colliery developer, which will see a range of measures including new traffic signals, a new roundabout and traffic calming measures introduced at a number of junctions linking the B585 with the A511 to the north.
To facilitate these works, a combination of road closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place to ensure the safety of road users, the public and site operatives.
From Monday (30 September) Station Road between the junction of Victoria Road and Wood Road, will be closed for three days.
In addition to this, work will be carried out at the following locations:
- 3 October: Victoria Road, from the junction with Ellistown Terrace Road to Stanton Lane, Ellistown will be closed for one week
- 18 November: Wood Road, Nailstone will be closed at its junction with Station Road for one week
- 27 November: Station Road, Bagworth will be closed at its the junction with Wood Road for three weeks.
Diversion routes will be in place for the duration of these closures. For details visit www.leicestershire.gov.uk/nailstone-colliery
Improvements to these junctions are key to providing access to homes and employment, and the new country park development site once complete and that is why we need to improve the area for motorists.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to people travelling through the area.
