“This is about improving our borough and making sure that properties are being used to their full potential.”
Long-term empty properties are being addressed in Nuneaton and Bedworth.
The borough council has appointed a dedicated Empty Property Officer and has introduced a new online reporting form.
The Report an empty property form enables residents to easily notify the Council of empty properties in Nuneaton and Bedworth. The form captures information about suspected empty properties, including location, condition, and length of vacancy.
Once submitted, the information is reviewed by the Empty Property Officer, who will assess each case and determine the most appropriate action.
This can include working with the property owners to encourage renovation, offering support and advice, or taking enforcement action where necessary.
Cllr Chris Watkins, Leader and Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “Empty properties, particularly homes, can become a real blight on our communities, they can attract anti-social behaviour, fall into disrepair and are a wasted resource at a time when demand is high.
“By employing a dedicated Empty Property Officer and launching this online reporting tool, we’re empowering residents to help us take meaningful action.
