Leicestershire academies are responsible for their schools and so are separate from county council maintained schools.

Leicestershire County Council have confirmed that they have not been approached by the Government about concrete safety fears in their schools.

The county council are responsible for their maintained schools, which are separate from Academies.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: “As the responsible body for maintained schools, the county council has not had any approach from the Government to identify a school which should be closed. An assessment has been carried out on all schools which we maintain and no RAAC has been identified.

“Academies are the responsible body for their schools, therefore, they are required to undertake the assessment on their schools and share information with the DfE. We will continue to offer support and assistance to academies if required.”

Fosse 107 will update when there is more information about other Leicestershire Schools.
