The council have warned Giant Hogweed is growing in Weddington Meadows in Nuneaton.
The plant's sap contains chemicals which can cause the skin to become very sensitive to sunlight.
The Woodland Trust advises anyone who comes into contact with the plant to wash the area thoroughly immediately, seek medical advice, and do not expose the area to sunlight for a few days.
Giant hogweed looks like an enormous cow parsley. The flowers are clustered on a large, umbrella-shaped flower head. The leaves looks a bit like a rhubarb leaf, with irregular and very sharp or jagged edges and the stems are green with purple blotches.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said they require permission from the Environment Agency before they can be treated near the river course. They're in the process of securing permission.
