Police are appealing for any witnesses – or anyone with dashcam footage – to come forward after a woman in her 70s had her handbag stolen in Loughborough
The victim was sat in her car when the incident happened at around 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 December). She was parked in a supermarket car park in Maxwell Drive.
She had finished putting her shopping in the car, when a man opened the front passenger door and stole her handbag, which was on the seat. He then made off from the scene on foot.
The man was wearing grey clothing with a hood pulled up.
PC Jon Martin, the investigating officer, said: “The woman began to shout, which alerted a member of the public, who in turn tried to chase the man. However he made off towards the nearby brook.
“I’d like to speak to anyone who was in the supermarket car park at the time and saw the man – or anyone acting in a suspicious manner. I’d also like to speak to anyone who was in the car park and has a dashcam installed in their vehicle.”
