Businesses prepare to re-open

Retailers in Loughborough have been preparing and putting safety measures in place to welcome shoppers back.

Preparations have been underway to create safe and welcoming shopping areas in towns and villages across Charnwood.

Charnwood Borough Council is working with businesses and Love Loughborough to help high streets get ready to trade safely as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

The Council is using floor graphics where pavements are wide enough, signage and barriers in Loughborough town centre to help visitors and businesses adhere to social distancing guidance, particularly around queueing.

Love Loughborough is advising businesses on how to protect customers and employees inside their premises.

Steve Tyler, Director of Tylers department store in Loughborough says they have been doing business online during the pandemic but say they're looking forward to welcoming customers back instore.

Steve said: "They have been taking some time to repaint, redecorate and they have been putting safety measures in place such as screens for all the till points required and all social distancing measures ready to welcome back customers."
