"We’re hosting this event to engage with members of the community around stop and search as we recognise the concerns around the use of it."
Tomorrow (28th June) Leicestershire Police is hosting an event to teach the community about stop and search and to discuss their concerns.
The event, is taking place at Fearon Hall in Loughborough and will run between 6.30 pm to 8 pm.
Officers will be showing footage of carrying out real stop searches, will tell attendees the law around stop search and answer questions.
Leicestershire Police said: "We’re hosting this event to engage with members of the community around stop and search as we recognise the concerns around the use of it – not just here in Leicestershire, but across the country.
"We are always willing to engage with, listen to and learn from communities to ensure we maintain public trust and confidence, and events such as these ensure we continue using stop and search in a way that takes account of community concerns while seeking to take illegal items off the streets."
