Hinckley Police have issued a warning as they have found counterfeit Scottish 50 pound notes in circulation around Hinckley Town Centre.
A police spokesperson said: "The 50-pound notes look real from a distance but have been found to be counterfeit after more in-depth checks.
"Persons using these notes will buy low-value items usually under 10 pounds at local stores in order to get a large amount of change back in legal currency."
The notes can be spotted by looking at the words “Royal Bank of Scotland” being blurred on the bottom of the note and by looking at the edges of the note as these might not be straight and properly cut.
Officers are asking that you make Hinckley Police aware if you find any of these fake notes.
