Works to lower the road under Britain's most bashed Bridge is due to start next month.
Network Rail said the bridge on the A5 between Burbage and Dodwells Bridge in Hinckley was hit 22 times in the year to April 2025.
The works to lower the road will start on 5th May and there will be traffic restriction.
The bulk of the work is expected to start in the summer holidays.
The work is part of a £10million road improvement plan paid for by the developers of a new industrial estate called MountPark off Dodwells Island in Hinckley.
Tom Kilmister, Senior Development Director, UK & Ireland, Mountpark told Fosse 107:
“Having committed over £10 million of private investment, Mountpark is the developer of critical infrastructure solutions along the A5 as part of its Mountpark Hinckley development. This investment has been underpinned by sustained technical work and close collaboration with National Highways, Network Rail and the county highway authorities of Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
“A building contract has been signed and contractor appointed with preparatory works scheduled to commence from early May, as agreed with National Highways. A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order has been published today by National Highways to enable access onto their network and facilitate delivery of the works.
“The schedule of works includes delivery of the new signal-controlled site access, upgrades to Dodwells Roundabout, enhanced pedestrian and cycle connectivity, and the lowering of the A5 carriageway beneath the railway bridge. By addressing this long‑standing bottleneck, Mountpark will deliver lasting improvements to safety, reducing disruption and improve reliability for the local community and the wider road network.
