Police are appealing for witnesses as Motor cyclist dies in M69 collison

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M69 northbound in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

They were called at 12.13am (Saturday 28th June)  to a report of an injured person in the road.

It was reported to officers that the motorcyclist had come off her bike and into the path of a car, being struck.

The rider of the motorbike – a 19-year-old woman – was pronounced dead at the scene.

There have been no arrests in connection with this collision.

Officer in the Case, DC Maddie Hayes, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was driving on the M69 in the early hours of this morning. This collision happened on the northbound carriageway – heading towards Leicester – but those travelling in the other direction may be able to help too.

“We know that our victim was riding with three others on motorbikes – we have spoken to these riders – but are keen to speak to anyone who was driving on the M69 at the time and who may have seen the riders before the collision, or the collision itself.

“Dash cam footage will also be helpful – it may have captured something to help our investigation.
