A town centre car park in Hinckley will remain open and will be free to use after its current operator confirmed it is stepping away from the site.
National Car Parks (NCP) told Fosse 107 that it will cease operating the Britannia Shopping Centre car park at 11:59pm on Friday, 27 March 2026 after the company went into administration.
The owners of Britannia Shopping Centre have since confirmed that after NCP’s departure, the car park will continue to operate under the same opening hours and will be free to use until further notice.
In a press release to Fosse 107, a representative of the centre's owners said:
the car park will remain open and continue to operate in line with the same opening hours previously in place under NCP management, and will be free to use until further notice, ensuring minimal disruption for visitors to the shopping centre and surrounding area.
Discussions are ongoing regarding alternative operators and potential future arrangements for the car park. Further information will follow once a new operator is in place to manage the car park.
Leader of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Stuart Bray, said:
“Officers from the council are in contact with the building owners, Panthers, and local property agents to understand the situation. While the site is privately owned, the council stands ready to help broker discussions and would welcome a new operator coming forward.
Britannia Shopping Centre thanked customers for their patience during the transition period.
