The family of a 57-year-old man from Sapcote have paid tribute to a much-loved husband, father and grandfather who died following a collision in Leicester in September.
Mathew Mitchell was riding his Kawasaki ZX10 motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a red Tesla Model 3 on Narborough Road South on 30 September.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
In a statement, his wife Diana described Mathew as her partner, best friend and the heart of their family.
She said: “Mathew was my partner, my best friend and the heart of our family.
“To me, he was a loving husband whose support and warmth filled our lives with joy. To our three sons, he was a steady guide, an inspiration, and a father who gave them everything they needed to grow into the fine men they are today. To his twin grandchildren, he was a source of pure delight and unconditional love.”
Diana said the love Mathew had built, the values he had instilled in his family and the legacy he leaves behind would never fade.
She added that the family would miss him every day, but would always carry his spirit with them.
The family also thanked everyone who tried to help Mathew following the collision, including members of the public who stopped at the scene, paramedics, police and other first responders.
Diana said their dedication, kindness and selflessness during the family's “worst day” would never be forgotten.
Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
