Police say they have made two arrests following an incident at the end of a football match at Britannia Park in Burbage.
It happened on Sunday 22nd March, after an under 17s game which was being played at a ground in Britannia Road.
Police said one of the players was assaulted and then threatened with a knife. The suspect was chased and subsequently detained in Jubilee Way. The victim sustained minor injuries when he was assaulted. Enquiries also led officers to arrest a second youth on Sunday evening.
The suspects, aged 16 and 17, have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
In a statement, a Leicestershire Police spokesperson told Fosse 107:
"The incident was witnessed by several players and spectators at the match and understandably caused some concerns. We would like to reassure those involved and the local community that we are carrying out a thorough investigation into the incident and are in the process of obtaining statements from witnesses and progressing with our enquiries. Local officers have also been carrying out reassurance patrols in the area and liaising with the management at the ground."
