The response post at Nuneaton fire station is going to be removed.

An ambulance base in Nuneaton is to be cut.

The response post at Nuneaton fire station is going to be removed and staff will move to the Coventry hub.

In a statement West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance provision will be increased due to savings from closing Nuneaton’s response post.

“Where an ambulance starts or finishes its shift doesn’t matter; being able to respond to patients in a timely manner does.  By investing further in frontline staff and ambulances, we will ensure patients receive the best care possible.

“Currently, 87.7% of cases in the town are NOT attended by the locally based ambulance.  Due to the rise in activity it is now rare for the response post in the town to be used, as the ambulance based at the site simply does not get back there before being sent to help another patient.

“It therefore makes no sense to plough money into buildings that are rarely used, other than at the beginning or end of shift. All money saved from the changes will be used to increase the number of paramedics and ambulances; the thing that really helps to improve care and save lives.”
