Although the body has yet to be formally identified it is believed to that of 46 year-old Vasu Pangaluri.
Officers were alerted to a body in the canal near Bulkington Road at 8:25am on Thursday 25th February.
Mr Pangaluri was reported missing by his family on Wednesday 24th February.
While the case is still being treated as 'unexplained', it is not believed to be suspicious.
During their investigations police also had to appeal to drone pilot to stop flying his device over the scene.
