Police say the identity of the deceased, found in Botcheston on Tuesday (17 Dec) is still unknown.
Police were called to Markfield Lane shortly after 1.15pm on Tuesday (17 December) following a report of a body being found near the road. Markfield Lane was subsequently closed at the junctions with Reservoir Road and Hunts Close.
The scene remains cordoned off but Markfield Lane has since been re-opened.
Detective Inspector Tim Lindley, who is leading the investigation, said: “A post-mortem examination has been carried out this afternoon and we can confirm there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this person’s death.
“I hope this can be of some reassurance to people living in the area where the body was found.
“We believe this person died some time ago and the body has also remained at the place where it was found for some time. Our investigation is very much continuing and further enquiries will be undertaken to find out the person’s identity.
“Forensic investigators are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area where the body was found. We will provide further updates as soon as we’re able to.”
