Police were called to Station Road in Market Bosworth on Thursday.
It happened near St Peter's School. Officers said they were called at 3.16pm to reports of a road traffic collision.
The boy was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Leah Dedman, 45, of Tudor Crescent, Atherstone, has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
She is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 July.
