Police said that there is no threat to the public.
Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU with the assistance of Leicestershire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands arrested a 37-year-old man in Coalville, Leicestershire today (25 August) on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The man was arrested under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and he is in custody at a police station in the West Midlands.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Section 5 makes it an offence for a person to engage in the preparation of acts of terrorism, or to assist others in preparation of acts of terrorism.
Officers insist the arrest was 'intelligence-led' and there is no threat to the public.
