Fire fighters had to tackle a blaze at a house in Cropston Drive, Coalville.
Several calls were made yesterday (16th June) evening to a fire at the back of a house.
Furniture in the garden and at the side of the house also caught fire, leading it to spread to the first floor.
Fire crews then discovered a gas leak, leading to 18 houses being evacuated.
Cadent gas attended and isolated the leak.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue told Fosse107 it is unknown whether the gas leak was there before the fire.
The house on fire was totally damaged by heat and smoke, and partially damaged by the fire itself.
Nobody was hurt but a dog had to be rescued and is safe and well.
