Staff members from Charnwood Borough Council have donated around 50 gift parcels to Living without Abuse. The charity supports people experiencing domestic abuse across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Nadia Ansari, chair of the Council’s staff forum, said: “Christmas is the season of giving so our staff forum wanted to support a local charity and create gift parcels for the women and families being supported by Living without Abuse over the festive period.
“We delivered the parcels to the charity which was really overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and so grateful.”
Geoff Parker, chief executive at the Council, said. “I’d like to thank all of the staff members who took the time to donate and help organise the delivery. What a fantastic team effort.”
Donations in the parcels included essentials items such as toiletries, hats, scarves, gloves, festive gifts and chocolates. The gift parcels will be given to women and families staying at the charity’s refuge accommodation over Christmas.
