The southbound carriageway near Loughborough was closed for several hours this morning.
Emergency services were called to a collision involving two lorries on the M1 near Loughborough this morning.
They were called to a stretch of the motorway between junction 22 near Coalville and junction 23 near Shepshed shortly after 4am.
Leicestershire fire and rescue service said appliances from Loughborough, Coalville and the Southern Technical Rescue attended the incident.
It's understood fire crews had to free one of the drivers who was trapped - he's been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
