Thousands of young people across Leicestershire are expecting their GCSE results on Thursday (22 August).

Around 7,000 teenagers will find out their grades, and Ivan Ould, Leicestershire County Council's cabinet member for children and families, has sent out a message to wish them good luck.

Young people have worked very hard for their exams, and I would like to wish them the very best of luck. GCSEs are a milestone for teenagers, and whether they are continuing education or moving into training or employment, they have my best wishes

Students who would like some guidance after receiving their results should seek help firstly from their school or college where staff will be available to advise on the options available.

The county council's Careers Advice Team can also provide further advice. To arrange an appointment, call 0116 305 6620.

Most of the subjects taken are graded via numerical system, grades 9-1. Last year, 23 subjects were graded this way to give more differentiation at the top end of the scale.
