Some practices have been cancelling appointments.

A number of people with GP practices in Hinckley have reported having their Flu vaccine appointments cancelled indefinitely.

This issue is not just limited to Hinckley, with some fearing the UK did not have enough doses for the over 65s.

But the government are insisting there is no shortage of vaccines.

On Saturday a Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said:

“It is untrue to say there is a flu vaccine shortage.

“The delivery from one supplier is delayed by one or two weeks and this should have no impact on the flu vaccination programme overall.”

Surgeries have been citing an issue with suppliers as the cause for the issues, but it is unclear whether the national shortage of lorry drivers and Brexit are having an additional impact.

One GP told Fosse 107, 'It is a disaster...we don't know if we're supposed to be delivering the Covid vaccine booster programme too."

On Friday Newbold Verdon and Market Bosworth surgery sent a text to those with appointments, which read,

"We have today been notified by our flu vaccine supplier that due to unforeseen road freight delays they are unable to deliver our vaccines on the date they had previously confirmed to us. We therefore have no alternative but to cancel the flu clinics we have scheduled and we will re-invite you as and when we have confirmation of delivery of the vaccine."
