They are setting up a ‘pop-up branch’ in Loughborough Library.

HSBC has updated customers about the damage caused to its Loughborough Branch after a fire at the site on the 15th of March.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service reported that one building was fully involved in a fire and it was spreading to a neighbouring building.

The bank has now confirmed that there has been significant damage to the roof and upper levels of the property and therefore it will be closed for the foreseeable future.

Whilst the bank is out of action a 'pop-up branch' will be operating in the town.

The first 'pop-up branch' will be in Loughborough Library initially on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th March 2023 from 10 am- 4 pm.

Gursh Bassi, HSBC UK’s Local Director, said: “First, I would like to thank the emergency services for the way they handled the situation on Wednesday. Their hard work in difficult and dangerous conditions is greatly appreciated. There were no customers in the branch at the time, but we are pleased to report that our branch colleagues are safe and well.

"After carrying out an initial assessment, I am saddened to report there is significant damage to the roof and upper levels of the property. We will continue to assess what is needed in terms of repair, but it is obvious the branch will be closed for the foreseeable future.

"We have been working with Charnwood Borough Council to find a suitable location for a ‘pop up’ branch, so we can help customers with ‘in the moment' queries, including account opening, help setting up and resetting online and digital banking, providing digital education, guidance and customer support. The initial ‘pop-up branch’ will be located in Loughborough Library and will be available initially on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th March 2023 10-4 pm, while we assess the best location for the following week and beyond. This will also allow us to assess the optimum opening pattern based on customer usage.

"Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept or provide cash or accept cheques, however, customers can use the local Post Office for day-to-day transactions including depositing and withdrawing cash and depositing of cheques. In addition, customers can continue to use online, mobile or telephone banking. Our Live Chat service is available 24/7. For those who need to visit a branch, they will be able to find their local branch here.”
