The force needs to recruit 230 new police officers.

Leicestershire Police is starting a year-long campaign to recruit 230 new police officers.

Applications for the first cohort open on Monday 1st April with the successful candidates starting their training in February and March 2020.

The force is recruiting again thanks to a better than expected increase in Government funding, a 12% increase in the precept - the amount local people pay towards policing - and £5.1M from reserves over the next four years.

The advert for the job says: "If you enjoy facing challenges, solving problems and would like to contribute to keeping your community safe whilst developing a wider range of skills, then policing could be for you."

Leicestershire Police says it particularly wants to attract candidates from under-represented community groups to ensure the workforce reflects the communities it serves.

To apply you have to be between 18 and 57; have a level 3 qualification or equivalent; hold a full UK/EU valid manual driving licence and not have any serious convictions or recent cautions.

There are a series of recruiting events across the city and county which are being held in various locations for anyone interested in joining to attend to ask more. You can find out where and when they are by looking on our website at;
