Charnwood Borough Council says that its three leisure centres will continue to operate as usual after its operator Fusion Lifestyle entered administration.
The Council says its three centres in Loughborough, Syston and Mountsorrel will be open and running as normal and says it expects to appoint a new operator in the coming months to take over the running of the centres.
Nadeem Sweiss and Adam Stephens of S&W Partners LLP have been appointed as Joint Administrators for Fusion, which operates a number of leisure centres for councils across the country.
A statement on belhalf of the Administrators released on 1st April said:
Fusion Lifestyle (“Fusion”), which operates a network of leisure centres across England, entered Administration on 1 April 2026 following a prolonged period of financial difficulty. Nadeem Sweiss and Adam Stephens of S&W Partners LLP (“S&W”) were appointed as Joint Administrators.
Recognising the vital role leisure centres play in supporting community health and wellbeing, Fusion’s management, alongside S&W, have collaborated closely with local authorities to explore viable options for keeping facilities open. To avoid disruption to the public, many of the local authorities have agreed to a transition period, supporting the Charity in Administration while a new operator is secured to manage the leisure centres, ensuring key services remain open to the local community.
Most leisure centres will continue to operate, and customers and creditors are encouraged to check their local leisure centre’s website and social media channels for the latest updates.
Unfortunately, following careful consideration and consultation with the City of London the leisure centre situated at Golden Lane Sports and Fitness Centre will be closing on 30 April 2026. If you will be affected by the closure, please contact the City of London for further information.
For queries not addressed in the FAQs, please reach out to your local leisure centre or the Joint Administrators by email at fusion@swgroup.com.
The Joint Administrators, management team and local authorities are focussed on providing support to those impacted by the immediate changes, including those impacted by closures, and are committed to a smooth transition.
Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s lead member for leisure centres in Charnwood, said:
“We are incredibly disappointed Fusion has gone into administration, but we want to be clear that the Council’s three leisure centres will continue to operate as normal, and it is very much business as usual for customers. Entering into administration provides the time to put new arrangements in place, and we are very confident a new operator can be found and appointed soon and have already started the process. We are committed to providing leisure facilities for our communities. The leisure centres are used by thousands of people each year and they play an important role in helping residents keep well and active. We will work with the administrators to ensure there is a smooth transition to a new provider and to keep disruption to a minimum. We continue to invest in the centres. This year we are planning to invest £2.7 million into a new heating system at Loughborough Leisure Centre to reduce carbon emissions and running costs, thanks to a government grant.”
Customers are advised to check the leisure centre websites and social media channels for the latest updates.
