The horse sadly died and the rider needed to be treated for her injuries.

Leicestershire Police have issued the following statement:
"We were called at 11.09am this morning to a report of a collapsed horse in the street in Newtown Linford.
"The rider – a female – fell from the horse. East Midlands Ambulance Service are in attendance to deal with her injuries.
"The horse sadly died and the fire service are at the scene to assist with the recovery.
"Main Street and Bradgate Road have been closed while the horse is recovered."
Bradgate Road is closed in Newtown Linford - from Main street and Grey crescent including Groby lane to Bradgate park entrance.
Police have asked for drivers to find an alternative route.
