There are long delays in Leicestershire on the M1 due to an incident affecting the north and southbound carriageways.
A crash occurred between a car and a van.
There is confirmed oil and fuel spillages on scene.
National Highways said “Traffic caught within the closures is being turned around and directed off the motorway via the previous exit slip. National Highways Traffic Officers are dealing with traffic management.”
Some drivers reported being stuck in traffic for more than three hours.
