A specialist spillage team were needed to clean up the mess.
The A5 in Burbage was closed in both directions this morning after a lorry full of offal spilt the load on the carriageway.
The road was closed in both directions between the A47/B4666 Dodwells Roundabout and the M69 J1 Hinckley Interchange.
A specialist clean-up team were called to the scene to remove the meat organs.
Leicestershire Police have thanked drivers for their patience whilst the road was closed.
The road has now reopened and National Highways England has reported that traffic is clearing in the area.
