A man has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for non-recent sexual offences against a child in Nuneaton during the 1970s and 1980s.
Rashid Limalia, 73, of Shetland Road, Leicester, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court where he had been found guilty of seven counts of rape and one count of indecent assault.
The offences were committed against a girl when she was aged between 10 and 16 while Limalia was a resident in Nuneaton.
Detective Sergeant Carl Buckley from Warwickshire Police Serious and Complex Crime Team said: “The victim suffered years of traumatic abuse at Limalia’s hands.
“While she may never get over what he did I hope she can take some comfort from seeing him behind bars. She has shown great strength and courage throughout the investigation and trial.
“I hope this sentence will encourage other victims to come forward and get the justice they deserve.”
If you have been a victim of sexual abuse or are concerned someone you know is being abused, please call Warwickshire Police on 101.
