Police are appealing for help to trace the rider of the moped as an 18-year-old remains in hospital.

An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured after he was involved in a collision in Hinckley on Friday 27 August.

The man was walking along Castle Street, in the pedestrianised area, around 11.40pm when a moped collided with him.  The moped rider failed to stop at the scene, rode down Castle Street and was last seen near The Borough traffic lights, close to the Union Inn pub.

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire where he remains with serious life-threatening injuries.

From enquiries conducted so far it’s believed the moped rider came from the direction of London Road prior to the collision.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the moped being ridden in or around the Castle Street, London Road, The Borough or Regent Street area either before or after the collision.

The moped has been described as having three lights on the front shaped like a triangle with the two at the bottom and one at the top.

If you recognise this bike or believe you may know who it belongs to please get in touch.

Also, we would urge anyone who was driving around the area and has video recording equipment installed on their vehicle to get in touch if they captured anything that may assist with the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 763 Paul Hicks on 101, quoting incident number 756 of 27 August.
