Residents have until Tuesday 1 August to nominate their chosen hero.

You can now nominate someone for a Charnwood Community Heroes award.

The awards, which are run by the borough council celebrate those who go above and beyond in the borough.

It could be someone who has helped a neighbour, raised funds or is always there for others.

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “It is fantastic to see that Charnwood Community Heroes has been launched once again as this is a great opportunity to celebrate the work that so many do across the borough.

“Nominating someone you know to be a Charnwood Community Hero is a great way of thanking them for their dedication. If you know a person worthy then please nominate them.”

Residents have until Tuesday 1 August to nominate their chosen hero.

The Council will be running an awards ceremony at the end of September at John Storer House in Loughborough. All the nominees will be invited to the event. Local radio station Fosse 107 will be supporting the ceremony with presenter Mark Rowley as host.

Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL, chairman of RandalSun Capital Ltd, said: “We are proud to be supporting Charnwood Community Heroes 2023.

“There are so many remarkable people across our borough, doing extraordinary things, helping to really improve people’s lives and the wellbeing of our communities. These awards are a great way of showcasing this wonderful work and I look forward to reading and hearing what I know will be many inspiring stories of great community achievements.”
