When police tried to stop the car, the driver went through a red light and travelled on the wrong side of the road.
Two Nuneaton men have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of multiple driving, drugs, and weapon offences after a car was stopped and searched in Bedworth.
Warwickshire Police saw the driver and passenger of a red Ford Fiesta carrying out what they believed to be a drug deal on Monday evening (21 August).
When they tried to stop the car, the driver went through a red light and travelled on the wrong side of the road.
When the vehicle stopped on Park Lane in Nuneaton, officers searched the car and seized various weapons, a number of immitation firearms, a quantity of what was thought to be cannabis, and a quantity of cash.
A 29-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drugs – possession with intent to supply other than class A
- Possession of offensive weapon
- Driving – failing to stop when directed
- Dangerous driving
- Possession of firearms offences
- Money laundering
A 26-year-old man – also from Nuneaton – was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drugs – possession with intent to supply other than class A
- Possession of offensive weapon
- Possession of firearms offences
- Money laundering
Both men have been bailed until mid-November while enquiries continue.
