Pair arrested for drug and weapon offences

An officer on patrol in Nuneaton has arrested two men after he smelt cannabis coming from a parked car.

The officer was on patrol on Thursday (17 October) evening in Bradestone Road when he became suspicious of the men.

He arrested the man in the driver seat – a 21-year-old man from Nuneaton – and later cautioned him for possession of cannabis.

Following a search of the car officers seized a baton after which the man in passenger sear fled the vehicle. A 27-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested a short distance away on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He was bailed while enquiries continue.

Police enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should call 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
